Fachjan Project Plants
Two generations who put their heart and soul into the middle of the most beautiful greenery every day. Together with a team of expert professionals who live for their profession. That is Fachjan, with almost 100,000 m2 of its own greenhouses, spread over 4 companies, full of tropical and subtropical green plants, flowering and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs from 10 cm to fourteen meters high.
We can be found at the nurseries of suppliers all over the world, at the table with architects and landscapers, and on location with customers on almost all continents. The stars achieved
Registration of the production method
Condition
To obtain this star, the grower must be able to demonstrate a transparent and responsible production environment, through one of the following certificates:
- GlobalG.A.P. IDA (Impact-Driven Approach)
- MPS-A or MPS-ABC
Obtained certificate grower
Fachjan is MPS-A certified. The company has achieved 70 to 110 points.
A total of 110 points can be achieved. A company earns points by keeping consumption within certain standards. The standards for the use of pesticides, fertilizers, and energy are determined per crop. Based on the crops present and the surface area of the business, an organization is assigned an individual company standard.
The standard for a specific crop is established based on disease susceptibility, fertilizer, and temperature requirements. For this reason, a company starts by creating a cultivation plan before consumption can be recorded. In the cultivation plan, the grower records each crop that is cultivated and its corresponding surface area.
Social certification
Condition
To obtain this star, the grower must be able to demonstrate that he meets (inter)national requirements in the field of safety and health, through one of the following certificates:
- GRASP (GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice)
- MPS-Socially Qualified

Fachjan Project Plants is GRASP and MPS-SQ gecertified.
- GRASP stands for a risk assessment in the field of social aspects within a company. This includes the well-being and reward level of employees, as well as health and safety aspects.
- Good working conditions play a crucial role. With the MPS-Socially Qualified (SQ) certificate, Fachjan demonstrates that the company complies with (inter)national standards in the areas of safety and health.
Transparent and responsible production environment
Condition
To obtain this star, a grower must have one of the following certificates:
- GLOBALG.A.P. Flowers and Ornamentals: This means the grower meets the strictest professional standards and sustainability standards for floriculture.
- MPS-GAP: With this certificate, the grower meets requirements in the areas of traceability, the environment, crop protection products and recall procedures.

Environmental footprint
Condition
The grower must have an up-to-date Cradle-to-gate footprint calculation of the flower or plant in question. This maps the environmental impact.
To demonstrate this, the grower must provide a signed Product Footprint Declaration containing the 16 impact categories of the FloriPEFCR (draft). Once the proposal for the FloriPEFCR has been approved by the European Union, the footprint calculation must be carried out in accordance with the official rules.
Used method grower
Fachjan has calculated the environmental footprint of the Fair Flora plants using the Flori Footprint Tool. This tool maps out the environmental impact of the plant based on key components, including energy consumption, water usage, starting material, substrate, and packaging.
CO2-compensation
Condition
The plant must be Climate Neutral: the grower must be able to demonstrate CO2 compensation of the plant with officially certified carbon credits. Climate change is combated by actively removing CO2 from the atmosphere.
Obtained certificate grower
Fachjan has offset the CO2 emissions from the production (cradle-to-gate) of 10,000 Fair Flora plants through Bamboo Village by planting bamboo in Uganda.
The planting of native bamboo helps absorb CO2 from the atmosphere into the plants and the soil, contributing to the mitigation of global warming.
The Bamboo Village plantation in Uganda has been officially recognized and certified by Oncra as a project successfully removing CO2 from the atmosphere. This ensures that carbon credits are not issued beyond what is realistically achievable.
